Doug and Michelle first met in 2nd grade and stayed friends throughout middle school and high school. After high school, Michelle went off to college, and Doug worked in the family business. Life took them in different directions, but as fate would have it, they reconnected after 25 years. Doug and Michelle were married in 2013. Since their happy reunion has been a dream come true, they decided to create a venue that would allow others to have their “happily ever after” come true too.

Our Story
How did Belle Oaks Barn come to be?
Doug and I had attended two outdoor weddings, then a family member’s wedding at a barn venue. I fell in love with the idea of helping couples get married. As a teacher of history, art history, art, fashion design, interior design and etiquette I have always loved to create and design beautiful spaces. Growing up on a dairy and raising cows, Doug had a lot of knowledge about barns and how they should function.
Together, we decided to put our background experiences to use and create a place for families to celebrate births, birthdays, graduations, marriages, anniversaries, reunions, celebrations of life and many other special occasions. We both wanted to keep busy after we retired from our earlier endeavors, but we wanted it to be enjoyable and satisfying. Belle Oaks Barn was our solution!
What makes Belle Oaks Barn special?
We like to think of our barn as a gathering place for families and all life’s celebrations. When you book an event with us, we want you to feel like extended family. We invite you to come early and stay late, we set up, decorate, and break down for you. As a result, we want you to feel at home and not be stressed because of the endless small details and long, exhausting clean up. We want you to relax, rock on the front porch, and enjoy being with your family and friends, while we take care of everything!
What advice does Doug and Michelle have for newly engaged couples?
That’s easy! Love your spouse more than yourself, always be the first to apologize and allow God to be the head of your household! 1 Corinthians 13:4-8
